The story of Geeta Store is the story of a woman who refused to let India's most beautiful tradition fade into the background. Poulomi Chakraborty — a corporate marketing professional turned entrepreneur — saw a gap: the saree was being sidelined by fast fashion, and the artisans who weave them were losing their livelihoods. She decided to change both.
Starting with a humble collection of handpicked sarees, Poulomi personally visited weaving communities across India — from the banks of the Brahmaputra in Assam to the handloom clusters of Bhagalpur and the silk-weaving families of Gadwal, Telangana. She didn't just source sarees. She adopted these artisan families as her own — building relationships, ensuring fair pay, and co-creating designs that honour tradition while appealing to the modern buyer.
